Institute for Jazz Research

Born in 1937 in Leoben. Studies in double bass (jazz), clarinet and percussion (classical). Since 1969 teacher at the (later called) University of Music and Dramatic Arts Graz, beside others for ensemble directing, musical analysis and jazz-double bass (1973 to 2003). Musical activities with nearly all groups in Graz of this time, in particular with the „Neighbours“ (with Dieter Glawischnig) and the Karlheinz Miklin Trio. Countless musical tours to almost all European countries, also to North- and South America, Africa and Asia. Teamwork with – beside others – Anthony Braxton, Chet Baker, Albert Mangelsdorff, Art Farmer and Ellis Marsalis.
